There are a world of possibilities available through your institution's Wisr network, and we're here to help you find people to talk to. In your Wisr network, you can schedule helpful 15-30 minutes calls on any topic you want, with any person in the network that you think could be helpful.

To get started, think about what you could use help with. Here are some ideas:

  • Learning about a new industry
  • Understanding which skills are necessary for a certain career
  • Finding out what a successful alum did during their time at your school
  • Understanding the career path of an alum with a similar major or passion

Next, you need to find someone who might be able to help answer the questions you have. Check out these articles we've written on finding people through custom recommendations, by exploring industries or communities, and by using the advanced search tool.

When you find a person that looks interesting, click Request a Call. You'll then be able to browse different agenda topics that we've provided for your convenience, to get the conversation started.

If you don't see an agenda that asks the questions you're thinking about, you can can create your own by editing the pre-populated topics in the text block (check out our guide for writing a great introductory message and agenda).

It's a good idea to add a friendly, personalized introduction to your agenda so that the person can get to know you before you talk on the phone. When you're ready, click Send Request! The person can then review your request and schedule times for the call. Once you have agreed on a time, make sure you understand how to dial in to a call.

In the immortal words of Dr. Seuss...

You're off to Great Places! Today is your day! Your mountain is waiting, So... get on your way!”
