Here to help? Here's what to do next
You've signed up to help students and recent alumni. Here's what you can do until you get a request for advice
Once your profile is complete, we will start showing your profile as a recommended person for students and recent alumni to reach out to. The more information you include in your profile, the more data points you will match on with members who could use your advice.
In the meantime, you can browse and join Communities in the network. If you don't see any that apply to you, you can request to create a new one.
Once you're a member of a community, you'll have the opportunity to participate in and contribute to a discussion forum inside of the community.
Discussion forums are a great way for you to offer advice and share answers to questions with a group of people, rather than one-on-one. Learn more about how you can get involved in discussions here.
When a student requests a phone call with you, we'll send you an email with details about the student or recent alum and the agenda they'd like to discuss. We'll ask that you propose times for the session or decline the request. The email will look something like this:
If you've never had a one-on-one call with a student or recent alum before, no fear. You don't need to be an expert to be helpful! You can lead the conversation by sharing your experiences and career journey. Ask them questions and help them define their own goals. If the conversation goes well, offer to support them as they work toward those goals, by staying in touch and serving as a resource.
Additionally, as a member of the network, you can also use the messaging and call feature to catch up with old friends and connect with fellow alumni to develop your own network. You can learn about sending messages via In-App Messaging.
Good luck and please reach out to us with any questions you might have.
